I
regret to announce the death of Stuart McCarthy
of Liverpool, England, on 10 November 2015
at the age of 38. He was a long-time contributor
to Spontoon Island, expanding the setting through
sharing his art & stories. He enjoyed working
in the retro-style setting on this whimsical world,
and did some illustrations that provided us all with
many iconic visuals of events and adventures in the
Spontoon Archipelago, and its larger 1930s world.
He could art and write in an exquisite 1930s and
1940s pulp style, and showed great enjoyment
slipping in a spoonful of irony & satire, now and then.
Some samples of his illustrations appear on this page,
with links to some Spontoon-themed pages of his work.
